Our History
Lauritzen Yach Harbor became Anthem Yacht Club and Marina
in September 2023. For over 100 years the Lauritzen family
proudly served the marine community.
In 1905 Chris Lauritzen Sr and his brother bought a 32' boat to
start a ferry service, operating between Antioch and Rio Vista.
After the devastating 1906 San Franciso earthquake, the Lauritzens
ferried passengers and freight between Oakland and San Francisco.
Future levee breaks and rescue calls were often met by the Lauritzens
as first responders.
In time, the brother's fleet grew to 7 boats servicing the entire Delta,
with regular schedules between Antioch, Stockton and Sacramento.
Lauritzen's ferry terminal became the site for the high bridge spanning the San Joaquin River in 1920. Residents fearing the new bridge kept Lauritzen's ferry business thriving. In 1927, the Lauritzens moved the ferry terminal upstream to Webb Tract, Bradford and Jersey Islands.

In 1959, the present location was dredged. The ferry business ceased in 1960. Over the past 60 years the Lauritzens developed the 18 acre marina in Oakley into one of the best and most respected marinas in the Delta.
